Over the years, I have had an amazing opportunity to work closely with people from many different cultures. 

I spent time in Latin America and the Caribbean as a medical missionary, where I was able to experience my own cultural heritage, in a life changing way. While my work as a physician and missionary have been fulfilling, I firmly believe that my most important role is as mother to my two daughters — both of whom arrived from Guatemala as newborns. Because of the unique challenges faced by adoptees, I have a particular expertise in adoption-related issues. Being a mom, and helping my children navigate the challenges of childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood, has increased my compassion and understanding — qualities I bring into my work with patients. 

After devoting much of my career serving medically vulnerable communities in Federally Qualified Health Care Centers (FQHCs), I have opened a private practice where I can take more time to get to know my patients. I am excited to be in the Hartford, CT area, and  I will continue to serve both the Spanish and English speaking communities. 

Outside of the office, I enjoy swimming, bicycling to run errands, and vegetable gardening. I spend a lot of time taking my two dogs, Mela & Mocha, for walks and quick adventures. I am still exploring places in the local area to find a great cup of coffee — especially if it’s an espresso or cappuccino!
